- WHAT IS HAMRAD?
-
-
-
- HAMRAD-DSK1, includes several programs of specific interest to
- the Amateur Radio Operator.
-
- There are 6 programs available to the user under the master menu
- program, HAMMENU. The HAMMENU screen looks something like this:
-
-
-
- A - Beam Heading Locator
-
- B - Prefix File Maintenance
-
- C - Print Bearings from your QTH
-
- D - LOG Book Program
-
- E - Print QSL Cards
-
- F - Change Station Coordinates
-
-
- Enter Selection ?
-
-
- The primary programs (A thru C) are designed to provide the user
- with a means by which to determine antenna azimuth positioning...
- in short, where to point your antenna! With your own QTH
- coordinates on file, the computer can provide beam headings based
- upon International Prefixes (ZL4, 1A0, etc), Universal Grid
- Squares (EN62DA etc) or Latitude and Longitude. You can also
- create a bearing list, of all prefixes in the file, from your
- QTH.
-
- These programs are proprietary and are provided on a user
- supported basis (Shareware). If you find HAMRAD-DSK1 to be
- useful, a registration fee of $25.00 is strongly suggested. A
- user manual and any current up-dates will be provided upon
- registration.
-
-
-
-
- SET-UP
-
-
- Before using HAMRAD-DSK1 you should customize the STATION.DAT
- file to meet your needs. First, use EDLIN to view the file,
- STATION.DAT. Each line is prompted with the required
- information, followed by a colon (:), followed by the station
- information. EQUIP #1 will correspond to ANT #1, etc. The last
- 8 information parameters correspond to the codes required by your
- printer for the appropriate information. Dual codes are
- separated by a comma. DO NOT ALTER the relative position of the
- colon (:) ! A typical STATION.DAT file is as follows:
-
-
-
- CALL SIGN:WA9ABC [ your call ]
- LICENSEE:Ronald J. Jones [ and address info ]
- ADDRESS #1:12345 S. Maine Street
- ADDRESS #2:Anywhere City, Texas 11111
- ADDRESS #3:U.S.A.
- EQUIP #1:TS-440/AT
- EQUIP #2:Yaesu 726-R, Gasfet Preamp
- ANT #1:3 Ele Beam, Inv V
- ANT #2:KLM 22CX - KLM 40CX
- 10 CPI:27,80
- 12 CPI:27,77
- ENABLE XPND:14 [ Code to EXPAND print ]
- DISABLE XPNX:20
- ENABLE EMPH:27,71 [ Code to EMPHASIZE print ]
- DISABLE EMPH:27,72
- ENABLE COMP:15 [ Code for COMPRESSED print ]
- DISABLE COMP:18
-
-
-
- Following set-up of the STATION.DAT file, you must now provide
- the computer with your EXACT International Grid Square which will
- be held in a file for all future references. This is
- accomplished by initiating the master menu, HAMMENU. To do so,
- log to the proper disk and type HAMMENU (followed by a C/R). you
- will need to know either your correct Grid Square or your
- Latitude and Longitude.
-
-
-
- If you do not have the Grid Square information, select program
- 'A', Beam Heading. When the Beam Heading program comes up.
- select option 'C', Latitude and Longitude. Enter the required
- information and it will display your exact Grid Square.
-
- Escape back to the master menu and select option 'F', change
- Station Coordinates. Follow the instructions and you will be
- ready to use all subsequent programs.
-
-
-
-
- SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
-
-
-
-
- A minimum of 256K user memory is recommended. A color monitor is
- not required but will add significantly to the users delight.
- All programs will operate with a single floppy disk but the LOG
- program will be severly limited. A second floppy or (preferably)
- a hard disk will provide optimum results. A printer is required
- for the QSL program as well as the BEARING program.
-
-
-
-
-
- COMMAND & ENTRY SYNTAX
-
-
-
- ESC moves the operator backwards towards DOS. If for example,
- you are in the Beam Heading program's sub-program, Heading by
- Prefix, entering the ESC key will return you to the Heading
- Programs menu. Another ESC will return you to the main menu,
- HAMMENU. Another ESC will exit you to DOS.
-
- In all program entry modes, upper case is required. The software
- checks for lower case and converts as is necessary.

- CONCLUSION
-
-
- These programs have been used for some time without any hitches.
- However, there's always room for an exception! If you encounter
- such a 'hitch' please let me know and I'll see what can be done
- to correct it. It might be noted that some of the Latitude and
- Longitude coordinates in the prefix file may be slightly in
- error. I have encountered only one during use, but then again, I
- haven't worked all the prefixes yet! A SUPER PREFIX file will be
- made available to registered users only when finished. 73's and
- good dxing.
